一、比較級
比較級包括超越、相等和差遜三種情況。
1)超越。表示超越的比較結構主要有：better than(勝過，優于)，more than+從句(多余，超過)，“than +關系代詞”的從句(再??不過)，superior to(占優勢，比??勝一籌)。例如： Doing is better than saying. 百說不如一做。 She has talked more than what is necessary. 她說了一些多余的話。 He is a scholar than whom no man ever will be more honest. 他是個再誠實不過的學者了。
2)相等。表示相等的比較結構主要有：as? as?(如??一樣)，as well as(既??又，和??一樣)，the same as?(像??一樣)，such/ so?as?(像??一樣)，no sooner than?(一??就??)，no more than(就像，不優于)，no less than(就像，不次于)，否定代詞+more than / else than / other than)(只不過??而已)。例如： Pompey, as well as Caesar, was a great man. 像愷撒一樣，龐培也是一位偉人。 Such a great poet as Homer was proficient not just in literature but also in history. 像荷馬那樣的詩人，不僅精通文學，還精通歷史。

三、強化式比較結構

英語中表示否定式比較的結構主要有：比較級+名詞+than +被比較的名詞(與其說??，不如說??)，比較級+ of +名詞+than +被比較的名詞(與其說??，不如說??)，more likely than(與其說??，不如說??)，rather a? than a?(與其說??，不如說??)，比較級+ than +原級(??有余，??不足)，more than +不定式(雖然??，還不至于??)，比較級+分詞+than +分詞(沒有??，倒是??)。例如： It sounds more a lyric than a song. 它與其說是歌詞，不如說是一首抒情詩。 He seems more cautious than decisive. 他顯得謹慎有余，而果斷不足。

五、選擇式比較結構
英語中表示選擇式比較的結構主要有：had better / best (最好??，還是??的好)，would rather? than(與其??，不如??)，better to? rather than?(不如)，prefer to? rather than?(寧愿??，不??)。例如： You’d better look before you leap.
